20 Ideas For An Absurdly Festive 4th of July

Happy Fourth of July!

I will be living vicariously through Snapchat, Instagram, and all the lovely blogs that I follow today since a) I have to work today. But hey, time and a half! and b) I have an exam on Tuesday and an exam on Wednesday. So unfortunately I don't really have time to be frolicking around and having fun in the sun. Although I did do that this weekend. I'll post about it sometime this week. I spent 2 and half days in Cape Cod and it was amazing.

So all you firecrackers out there, here I present you with 20 Ideas For An Absurdly Festive 4th of July!

  1. Make red, white & blue jello shots. I made these on Thursday but doubled the recipe. As someone whose forte is not math, this was rather terrifying. But they came out amazing!
  2. Rock a red, white & blue snapback hat
  3. Take a Boomerang video of yourself playing with sparklers.
  4. Make a red, white, and blue fruit platter and Instagram it. #Healthy. My favorite is one that has blueberries, strawberries, and white chocolate dipped pretzels in the shape of a flag!
  5. Give yourself a red, white, or blue (or all three) mani/pedi.
  6. Spend some time on a boat, any kind of boat!
  7. If you're lucky enough to live in the Northeast, visit Martha's Vineyard, Hampton Beach, or Virginia Beach!
  8. Sip sangria with a red, white, and blue straw
  9. Relive your horrifying college days and shotgun a Bud Light. #Murica
  10. If you aren't wearing red, white and blue socks, are you even trying to be festive?
  11. Tie some red, white and blue balloons anywhere you can.
  12. DIY a red, white and blue tassel garland. Hang everywhere.
  13. Eat only red, white and blue foods... challenge accepted?
  14. Rock a red lip. Adding blue eyeliner and silver sparkle stars is optional.
  15. Get the red, white, and blue sprinkle donut from Dunkin today! That's the spirit.
  16. Adorn your pet in an embarrassing red, white and blue get up
  17. Ride a crazy 4th of July pool floatie like this or THIS
  18. You absolutely must grill or BBQ. Hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, pasta salad and broccoli salad. Because no foods are more American than salads made with loads of mayo.
  19. Rock these American flag shades. All day and all night.
  20. Whatever you do, have fun and be safe! If you're lucky enough to have this extra day off (I am not) spend it with your friends and family. Preferable by a body of water, preferably with a delicious and patriotic beverage in hand, preferably playing some kinds of backyard lawn games. Smile and celebrate your life and your freedom.

What are your plans for the 4th?
